I nearly committed suicide – Fredyma shares sad story

Ace sound engineer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, has disclosed he once attempted suicide.

According to the engineer he had no hope when he lost all his studio equipment in the Goil Filling Station inferno.


In an interview on “Legends” show hosted by Agyemang Prempeh, Fredyma said he felt neglected and attempted suicide.

“I tried killing myself, yes …it got to a point I was really depressed I felt I was neglected by everyone”, he said.


Nevetherless, he decided not to harm himself after listening to two inspirational songs .

“Brother Sammy’s song which I heard someone play brought me peace and a song I wrote for Ophelia also inspired me , and I have my children, my last born, I was just looking at him then I told my self I won’t it attempt any more”, he stressed.

Explaining how he intended to commit suicide he said; “ you know I have asphyxia so whenever i enter somewhere without  oxygen I start panting for breath so I decided to get stuck in an elevator or get a place without oxygen in order to suffocate and die

Fredyma in 2015 lost all his studio equipment in the Goil Filling Station inferno.

The studio is about fifty metres away from the Nkrumah Circle and close to the burnt Goil Filling Station.
