It is wrong to date your female artiste – Gyakie’s manager

Gyakie’s manager, Emmanuel Sedo, popularly known as Mirror, has made a statement about managers dating their female artistes.

The Chief Executive Officer of Flip Music says when male managers have intimate relationships with their female artistes, it affects their work.

In an interview with Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Entertainment 360, Mirror said such relationships do not create a healthy environment for the work.

“There are several examples of artistes dating their managers over the world. Wizkid has a child with his female manager. The question remains, “what will be the future of their work when the relationship is no more?”

“If your interest is in the business, I believe one must invest his or her time in making sure the business thrives rather than affection. As far as I am concerned, I cannot do that,” he added.

Contrary to the notion that it is difficult to manage female musicians, Mirror said he is rather concerned about the talent of the artistes than the gender.

“For me, it’s what I want to get out of the person, not about gender. There are times when I did not have good times with men. Here I am having a good working time with a woman, so there is no problem at all,” he said.

Showbiz personalities like Bulldog, who manages dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, has said on a number of occasions that for a male artiste manager to succeed working with a female musician, he needs to be in a sexual relationship with them.

However, the case of managers dating their female artistes is very common. Kelly Rowland, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Kelly Rowland among other acts have been in this situation before.

In Ghana, rapper Okyeame Kwame is managed by his wife, Annica Nsiah Apau. Gospel musician, Celestine Donkor, is also managed by her husband Kofi Donkor
