Uruguay revealed that Luis Suarez had tested coronavirus positive, with Atletico Madrid now expected to miss the match against former club Barcelona this weekend.
With Egypt also announcing on Monday that Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny tested positive, Suarez becomes the latest player to return a positive Covid-19 test on international duty.
The case of Elneny follows compatriot Mohamed Salah’s promising outcome, with the Liverpool forward pictured attending the wedding of his brother ahead of the doubleheader of Egypt against Togo.

Suarez has gone on to score five goals and record one assists in La Liga this season after he left on a free from Barca, where he was the club’s third all-time leading goal scorer.
After seven games, Atleti is third in La Liga, undefeated, and knowing that winning their games in hand will put them top as it stands.
Barca meanwhile is down in eighth with the tenure of Ronald Koeman starting with two losses from their opening seven league matches.
