Mahama accuses Akufo-Addo of using military to overturn some results

Presidential candidate of the NDC, John Mahama has accused President Nana Akufo-Addo of using military personnel to intimidate some of his party agents to over turn results of the elections.

Addressing the press from his residence in Accra, the former president said his party has won 10 out of the 16 regions in the country but the government was suppressing their victory with force.

This comes after news of the death of 2 persons at Techiman South Constituency in the Bono East Region where a misunderstanding at the EC’s collation centre led to the shooting of some NDC members.

At least 6 have been hospitalized after resisting the overturning of results for the NDC candidate in the constituency.

“You cannot use the military to overturn [the verdict of thepeople] and stressed the NDC  will resist any attempt to suppress the verdict of the people.

Mr Mahama also debunked  reports that he has called President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to congratulate him as the winner in the 2020 Presidential elections.

He said the verdict of the polls yesterday indicated that Ghanaians are fed up with the Akufo-Addo administration.

“We are happy that Ghanaians have voted for change,” Mr Mahama said as he urged NDC supporters to be confident in their results.

Currently, the NDC says it has won 141 seats in Parliament which predicts a clear victory for the opposition party.
