Marrying girls under 18 is against Islam – Ahmadiyya Missionary

A Mualim of Ahmadiyya missionary, Mustapha Yamoah has disclosed that it’s against Islam for a girl to marry under the age of 18.

According to Mustapha, it’s against Ghana’s constitution for a girl to marry under 18 but a girl can marry at the age of 16 in other countries when their bodies are endowed.

“In our constitution the right age for marriage is 18 but some people outside the country marry at the age of 16 because their body is in the right shape”, he said

Speaking to Dakyehene Ofosu Agyeman on “My Lawyer My Counselor” show on TV XYZ, the Mualim revealed that, one can marry if their body is in the right shape and they are matured in the mind.

“One thing about marriage is that the girls body must be enhance and matured in the mind that’s why in our constitution, individuals at the age of 18 are given the chance to vote”, he added.

Nevertheless, any girl who’s forced to marry at a younger age has the right to breakup if she’s not interested.

“it’s against Islam for a girl to be forced to marry and she has the right to break up when she loses interest”.

Hence, any girl forced to marry at the age of 15 or 16 is not matured and can’t be forced into marriage.

Also, she can call for a breakup if she grows up and realizes that the marriage is not favorable enough, which elders can go for a breakup if she opts for it.
