“Music Award Scheme In Ghana Is Like The NDC And NPP”- Wendy Shay asserts

Rufftown signee Wendy shay has asserted that, some award schemes in Ghana are bias.

According to the “Uber driver” hitmaker, the organizers are doing well but seem to have some vested interest in some artistes.

To her, they are not different from the NDC and NPP as favoritism is the order of the day in their administration.

Disclosing why she was absent from the just ended VGMA’s, Wendy said, she didn’t involve herself because she knew she wouldn’t be awarded.

Besides, some of the VGMA award winners did not deserve their honors. Without mentioning names, Wendy believes she and some artists in the industry worked the hardest in the room therefore they should have picked up an award.

“There are two sorts of artists in Ghana’s music industry. ie, there are artists in the business who pour their hearts and souls into their work but are not acknowledged by award systems, and there are artists who are adored and dubbed “favorites” in the industry; she said in an interview.

At award presentations, these industry favorites sweep all of the honors, leaving little for others who fought hard for it.

Wendy Asiamah Addo, known by the stage name Wendy Shay, is a Ghanaian Afropop and Afrobeats singer. In March 2021, she was among the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music by the 3Music Awards Women’s Brunch.
