2020 running mate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has responded to a former NDC chairman, Obed Asamoah, over his recent comment about her capabilities.
Dr Asamoah in an interview recently said Naana Jane’s ticket was unable to make an impact in the Central Region–her home region.
“The lady who is a running mate to Mahama lost the Central Region in the last election. Lost a whole constituency,” the former Attorney-General stated without mentioning the particular constituency the NDC lost.
However, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang believes it is his opinion and that he will not argue with the NDC stalwart.
Speaking on the maiden edition of Women on the frontline on TV XYZ Sunday May 1, 2022, the former vice chancellor of the University of Cape Coast observed that “everybody has a way of analysing issues.”
“We are different people with different orientations. Probably he (obed Asamoah) was disappointed because he expected me to do something a particular way which I didn’t. His disappointment is genuine,” she told host Margaret Ansei (Magoo).
She said there was no way she would argue with the NDC bigwig.
“But one thing is that not everyone will support your vision,” she noted.
Asked if she had sought to speak to Dr Asamoah, Prof Opoku-Agyemang said in Akan that “I haven’t spoken to him.”
“He’s an astute man… I can’t be reacting to everyone who passes a comment about me to know their motive, ” she added.
