NDC Holds Vigil For Founder JJ Rawlings

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed shock at the death of their founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings.

The first president of the fourth Republic died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday, November 12, 2020 after a short illness.

The party has announced they will hold a vigil for their fallen hero at the Obra spot from 5pm to midnight on Sunday, November 15,2020.

A book of condolence has been opened at the party headquarters at Adabraka, Accra and its Regional and Constituency offices across the country.

A statement signed by NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah on Friday described Mr Rawlings as “bold, courageous and outspoken icon who was driven by deep love for his country and the downtrodden.”

The party also said it’s flags are flying at half mast across the country as they honour the late former president.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah added that a funeral related activities will be held across the country by the NDC.

The announcement comes after the NDC political committee held a meeting this morning.
