A youth activist within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Osei Tutu also known as Otumfuo, has urged members of the party to seriously get involved in the ongoing branch reorganization.
He said the process will help the party to recapture power in 2024 when done well.
Otumfuo observed the hardship and heightening corruption under the current Akufo-Addo government makes the NDC the only alternative Ghanaians can bank their hopes on.
“To be able to succeed, we have to work hard through our various branches,” he noted.
“No strong building can survive a storm if the foundation is weak. Our party is owned by the people, the grassroots form the largest and most credible source of our formation and we can’t afford to lose that,” Otumfuo added.
“Let’s go back to our roots, let’s revive the spirit of the party through our branches.”
Urging members and former appointees of the party to go to their branches to work, he stated that, “we can’t win elections without solid branches.”
“No strategy will work without strong branches,” he concluded.
Otumfuo’s concerns come on the back of some challenges the party is facing in the registration and issuance of party cards to new members.
The NDC has set up a taskforce to monitor the situation in some constituencies.
