NDC will resist any rigging attempt by EC in 2024 – Alhaji Naziru

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication team Alhaji Mohammed Naziru has kicked against the decision of the Electoral Commission (EC) to close the 2024 general elections at 3PM.

The Chairperson of the EC Jean Mensa announced on Monday proposed that they want to close polls at 3 pm rather than 5 pm.

But the suggestion of the electoral management body has received mixed reaction from Ghanaians.

Reacting to the issue on Morning Update on TV XYZ, Alhaji Naziru said he suspected the EC chairperson was on an expedition to rig the forthcoming 2024 general elections in the favour of the NPP.

“She [Jean Mensa] has proven without any streak of immodesty that she’s in bed with the NPP and everything about her is NPP. Absolutely no one can dispute that fact,” he added as he made reference to some irregularities of the 2020 elections.

The vociferous NDC man said the EC chairperson does not have the locus to supervise elections in the country looking at her posture in the 2020 general elections.

“The EC chairperson is the only person who the Constitution ascribes to give an account to how free, fair and transparent elections are conducted in the country but she refuted in her own duty and was prevented by the highest court of the land to tell Ghanaians how Nana Addo emerged a winner,” he argued.

Mr Naziru believes that Elections are won at the various polling stations and the NDC is adequately prepared to win the next elections by any means possible.

“NDC is a party of surprises and it will endeavor to protect the Constitution and the right of the ordinary Ghanaian thus the party will not succumb to intimidation or whatsoever by the security come 2024” he stated.
