The opposition National Democratic Congress has served a strong notice to loud mouth supporters with loose tongues that ‘No nonsense will be tolerated as the party re-organizes itself after the painful defeat.’
This was made known by the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia at a press conference yesterday.
The party was aware that even as sitting members took the time in undertaking difficult honorous assignments in parliament, individuals within the constituency had already taken advantage of their absence from their constituency to undermine them with the hope of conceding them in 2020, this he explained as he reason for sounding that caution.
“Whiles we have set the right of every NDC member to aspire to any position of the party, We also believe that democracy can only be meaningful when the playing field is even and the rules of engagement is transparent and applicable to all people.”
He further added that “We send a note of caution to all aspirants at all levels to refrain from every action or conduct calculated to undermine our siting members of parliament, before the season of campaigning is formally open.”
He explained also that any aspirant or supporters who attempt to undermine the integrity of a sitting Member of Parliament will be severely sanctioned. Also any evidence of breach of this directive would account to the evaluation of eligibility of that candidate when election begins.
