Hist of Inside Politics on Power 97.9 FM, Salifu Maase also known as Mugabe has hit hard at the Akufo-Addo administration for failing to deliver on his promises to Ghanaians.
The firebrand broadcaster who was speaking on his programme on Wednesday said realizing that the NPP government has underperformed and is on the brink of losing the 2020 elections, some key members of the government has began paying monies to some institutions to conduct fake polls to favour the Akufo-Addo government.
“The government has failed Ghanaians and after realizing that they are losing the elections, they are paying some pollsters to conduct fake polls to favour them,” he alleged.
Mugabe said the government has neglected its stronghold, the Ashanti Region, and is now trying to pay huge monies to some influencers including media men to give good comments about the government to influence votes.
Ghanaian pollster Ben Ephson is the latest pollster who has predicted victory for President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party in the December polls.
Ephson said the ruling party will win the December polls with a little over 52% while the opposition flagbearer John Mahama will manage 45.%.
But Mugabe has described such polls as fake because they were not based on scientific proceedures and do not reflect the opinions of the majority of Ghanaians “who are tired of the incompetent Akufo-Addo government.”
“Ghanaians don’t be deceived by the polls that are coming out, they were paid to do that to make the government look good but they will still lose…Ghanaians, voted against them because they want to be in power to steal more and make us even more poorer,” Mugabe fumed and said he knew those behind the financing of such polls.
Meanwhile the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has it is unfazed by polls that are predicting victory for President Akufo-Addo.
Reacting to the latest polls by Ben Ephson, the National Organizer of the main opposition party Joshua Akamba stated that the reality was that Ghanaians are poised for change, and that the polls wil send Akufo-Addo to opposition.
“Ben Ephson predicted the same thing for us in 2016 and it sent us into opposition. This is something that is going to take the NPP into opposition, he predicted it before, and when he did, the opposite happened so let the NPP not be happy at all,” Akamba said on Morning Starr on Starr FM.
He urged Ghanaians to vote for NDC flagbearer former President John Mahama who has a fair appreciation of the Ghanaians challenges and committed to fixing them.
Describing the NDC ticket as trustworthy, Akamba said “Ghana will once again be blessed to have a leader like John Mahama who will deliver Ghanaians from the wicked hands of Nana Akufo-Addo.”
A deputy General Secretary of the NPP Nana Obiri Boahen who also reacted to the polls said the ruling party will not rely on the polls for its strategies.
