Parliament freezes approval of 3 dpty ministerial nominees; approves 12 by consensus

Parliament has approved the nomination of 12 deputy ministerial nominees appointed by President Akufo-Addo, freezing 3 of them.

The Appointments Committee of Parliament amended its 6th report to exclude the 3 deputy ministers-designate and approved the 12 others by consensus.

Those on hold include Deputy Minister-designate for Education, Gifty Twum Ampofo; Deputy Minister-designate for Sanitation, Amidu Issakhaku Chinia, and Deputy Minister-designate for Water Resources,
Diana Asonaba Dapaah.

This was after the minority objected to the initial report which they say was not reflective of the voting pattern of members on the committee.

Their exclusion from the list of nominees approved by consensus is unknown for now, reports XYZ Parliamentary correspondent, Princess Arita Anim.

MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, who voted against Gifty Twum Ampofo says he did so based on his dissatisfaction with some answers provided by the nominee during vetting.
