Philanthropist leads Gov’t to discover orphanage

A philanthropist, Mr. Alex Dosu, yesterday led gov’t officials to discover a foster home at Boi near Abokobi in the Ga East municipal assembly (GEMA).

Mr. Alex Dosu who is also the CEO and Founder of Will-Engineering had planned to celebrate his birthday with a foster home within the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency where he resides and invited officials from the GEMA to be part of the occasion to also plant some trees in furtherance of the Green Ghana Campaign.

However, upon arrival at the venue, the GEMA officials were taken aback to learn that a foster home, True Friends Foundation, has been in existence for 15 years in the area. Apparently, the home had relocated to the municipality for the past year and has been in operation but was oblivious to the government.

The Presiding Member for the GEMA, Nii Noi Jesse Anum who graced the occasion in his address stated he was surprised to know an orphanage exists nearby the assembly.

“Honestly I don’t know we have an orphanage here, so after this celebration, we have to engage them more so that we know much about the orphanage,” he noted.

He also congratulated the managers of the foster home for the good work done and was optimistic about the future of the children and the growth of the organization.

“In fact you have done very well, looking at the children before us here, we all know how children behave and where these children are coming from you will realize that there is a lot of work on you to address. And I believe the strength of the Lord is going to see you through,” he added.

On his part, Mr Dosu expressed joy at celebrating his special day with the foster home.

“It’s a pleasure to be here and I want to thank God first, and the thanks to my Brother Albert Aheto for the great idea for coming to this particular place,” he said.

He continued, “the idea came to celebrate with this orphanage because we live in this constituency, and whatever we do we need to support each other, especially the less privileged. We have been doing this over the years in the Eastern region and other regions but today my brother Mr. Albert Aheto here decided to settle on this place.”

The donations according to Mr. Dosu are in line with the teachings of the Holy Bible.

“In Galatians chapter 6, the verse 6 and Galatians 6:2. Verse 10 says that, therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to those in the family of faith. And verse 2 says, carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. So these children need our support,” he said.

The Founder of True Friends Foundation, Mrs. Jane Gerbs, used the occasion to urge endowed individuals to emulate Mr. Dosu’s example.
