Police and Army clash in Western Region

The Western Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has launched investigations into circumstances that led to  a clash between the Police and armed men suspected to be soldiers.

The clash over the weekend has left two officers injured.

Reports indicate that the soldiers, numbering five, assaulted the officers at the Inchaban police barrier near Sekondi Saturday dawn.

Details are sketchy but the victims say they were taken by surprise and without provocation by the suspected military officers who wore trousers and ‘T’ shirts.

They were on board a Toyota Rav 4 with registration No. WR 15-15 and used cutlasses and clubs in their assault.

Police officers on barrier duties within the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis have withdrawn their services in protest following the incident.
