Police fines ‘reckless‘ V8 driver Ghc 1,800

The Head of Legal and Prosecution at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), ASP Sylvester Asare has revealed that a reckless V8 driver has been fined a sum of Ghc1,800.

According to the ASP, reckless and inconsiderate driving is been captured by the CCTV cameras.

“I hope you’ve seen the viral video of people who drive recklessly  and inconsiderate which was captured on camera, ”he said

The Head of Legal and Prosecution was responding to a question on offences and their punishments on TV XYZ program dubbed My Lawyer My Counselor hosted by Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman and made those revelations.

“If you feel you are above the law just pray you are not been captured by the camera because one day will be a bad day for you . The cctv is working they are not there for fun “he warned.


Recall that, October 22 and November 4, 2021, ten errant drivers were captured on camera by the Motor Traffic Monitoring and Surveillance Centre of the Ghana Police Service.

These drivers drove in the median of the road, while others used the shoulders of the roads.

Some were also captured for wrongful parking.
The police cautioned the culprits to report to the Accra Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) office, at Tudu, to assist in investigations immediately.

According to ASP Asare, these drivers have been sent to court and asked to pay a fine between Ghc 400 to 1,800.


“They’ve been sent to court , they reported themselves you will be surprise, the minimum fine is 400 cedis and just yesterday the one I took to court paid 1,800”, he stressed
