Police, military pledge to probe alleged attack on Suame police station by soldiers

The Police administration and the Ghana Armed Forces have pledged to thoroughly investigate the alleged assault of some police officers at the Suame Police Station in Kumasi by soldiers on Friday.

The two security institutions have also vowed to deal with persons found culpable in the incident.

This is after a heavy security deployment at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters and the Suame District Police Command following an attack by some soldiers on police officers who had arrested one of their colleagues.

A military officer who was not in ununiform was arrested by police for riding an unregistered motorbike on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Unhappy about the development, some of the soldiers allegedly attacked the Suame Police Station and physically assaulted the arresting officer.

In reaction to the disturbances, the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces have announced that they have commenced “a full-scale investigation into the incident, and anyone found culpable will be dealt with administratively and according to law.”
