‘We’re taking Tema West seat from incompetent Carlos Ahenkorah’ – Ofosu Ampofo

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has criticised MP for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah for nonperformance almost four years after voting him to Parliament.

He said the MP has not been able to help fascilitate development projects in the area, saying the former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry has neglected the residents of the area.

“If you vote for some MP and after 4 years your roads are this bad, does that warrant him to be given the mandate again? Carlos Ahenkora is a failure just like the President, Nana Akufo-Addo,” Mr Ampofo said as he recalled how the NDC government planned to develop the area.

He stated that the erstwhile government started upgarding the roads in Adjei Kojo and its environs but when they left power, little has been done in constituency.

He said the NDC had plans to expand the Tema motorway to six lanes but the Akufo-Addo administration after taking over government has left the motor way unattended to making commuters soend long hours before getting to work.

“In 2012 we worked hard. We needed only 800 votes to win the seat. This year, the voter number here shows we have the number in abundance,” he added while urging the NDC members to adopt “a Jehovah’s witness” approach to explain the policies in the ‘People’s manifesto’.

Mr Ampofo was speaking at a rally at Adjei Kojo in the Tema West Constituency where the NDC flagbearer is expected to address the chiefs and people.

Asking the people to vote for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Dr Raphael Tuffuor and former president Mahama in the upcoming polls on December 7, the NDC chairman stressed they were committed to improving the lives of the people of Tema West.

“If you want to prosper and live well, let’s vote for President John Mahama…This people have not done anything meaningful. The youth have no jobs and things keep getting bad so why should we retain them?” he quizzed.

He said After the first president of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, nobody has been able to perform better at the Tema Port  except Mr Mahama whose work he said is clear for all to see.
