Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has been the Parliament for the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency since 2009. He hails from Ajumako Bisease in the Central Region and was born on 5th August 1978.
He obtained his first degree, BSc. Accounting at the South Bank University in London. He subsequently earned two master’s degrees; Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Oxford, UK and Master of Science degree in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST.
Prior to his political career, Dr Ato Forson, a Fiscal Economist, Chartered Accountant, Tax practitioner and Entrepreneur with professional experience spanning two decades in both private and public sectors, was the Managing Director of Forson Contracts Limited in the UK.
He also served as the Chief Executive Officer for Omega Africa Holding Limited.
Dr. Forson is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants ,Ghana and a fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation.
As a member of Parliament since 2009, Dr Cassiel Ato was appointed a deputy Minister for Finance in 2013.
He is the Ranking Member of the Finance Committee; a member of the House Committee; a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and also a member of the Committee of Selection Committee.
In 2008, Dr Ato Forson, who contested the Parliamentary election for the first time polled 51.66% of the total votes cast. His approval rating in his constituency has since shot up from 52.67% in 2012; 53.55% in 2016 and an impressive 58.1% in 2020.
As deputy Minister he served as a member of Ghana’s Economic Management Team. He has also served on several boards including that of the Bank of Ghana and Ghana Cocoa Board. He was also Ghana’s Alternate Governor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
His expertise were also brought to light when he chaired the Committee that implemented the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System Reforms (GIFMIS).
Dr Ato Forson is a Christian, married with two children.
