Shatta Wale arrested over alleged shooting incident – Police

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah,  known in the music industry as Shatta Wale, has been arrested by the police.

The arrest is in connection with his role in a rumour that he was shot Monday night.

Handlers of the multiple-award-winning musician on social media announced that he had been shot by unknown assailants.  That was after a self-styled pastor had prophesied that the musician would be shot.

“Shatta Wale Arrested. Details to follow shortly,” the Police announced on their Facebook page Tuesday night.

Monday night Cops said they were looking for the self-acclaimed ‘Dancehall King’ after news of his shooting incident went viral on social media.

As it turned that the news of his shooting was a hoax, the Police arrested Kojo Owusu Koranteng, also known as Nana Dope and Eric Venator, alias Gangee, for allegedly spreading false information “with the intention to cause fear and panic.”
It is believed the two, who are close to Shatta Wale, were first to circulate the ” false claims on the alleged gunshot attack on Shatta Wale.”
“Preliminary investigations by the Police reveal the widely reported gunshot attack on Shatta Wale yesterday Monday, 18th October, 2021 was a hoax,” a police statement said Monday evening as they pursued  Shatta Wale and one other person popularly referred to as ‘Deportee’.
