GFA COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS OUT TODAY

Members of the interim body which will run the Ghana Football Association will be appointed shortly, possibly today.

An announcement of names is expected in the next few hours. The appointments are in line with the government decision to launch root-and-branch reform at the GFA following the high-profile exposure of rot in Ghana football administration.

Members of the interim management committee are exclusively Ghanaian; almost all have an international reputation relating to football management.

Among the names are Dr Kofi Amoah, the wealthy businessman who led Ghana’s 2008 African Cup of Nations (CAN) organising committee; Tony Baffoe, the German-born former Ghanaian international, widely respected in global soccer administration, who is now a match commissioner in Russia; and two leading club owners.
The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) will play a prominent role, probably through its president, Kudjoe Fianoo.

Asamoah Gyan is also said to be a star member of the committee.

The government moved to make changes in line with the public mood following the June 6 premiere of “Number 12: When Greed and Corruption Became the Norm”, the latest documentary by the investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
