GPL Week 7: Medeama’s Rise, Agony For Kotoko And Hearts

on Saturday, a solitary 16th minute strike by captain Joseph Tetteh Zutah ensured Medeama moved second on the league log with victory over Inter Allies at the Cape Coast Stadium. The Yellow and Mauves are now tied on points (13) with Ashanti Gold and have a game in hand

Early on Hearts of Oak continued their topsy-turviness as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to  Elmina Sharks . Goals from Felix Addo and Daniel Obeng Crentsil ensured the phobians suffered their 3rd defeat of the season leaving them 6th on the league log with 10 points. Hearts have now conceded 10 goals- 1 more than they have scored (9) this season

Former Champions Wa All Stars continued their lackluster season as they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Karela Fc. Imoro Ibrahim formerly of Bolga All Stars ensured his side pick up their 3rd win of the season and move into the top 4. The result also leaves Wa All Stars bottom of the league having won only 1 game all season

WAFA seem to have capitulated as they were handed their 4th successive defeat by Techiman Eleven wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park. Two quick goals in the second half by Yusif Hussein and Emmanuel Boahen was enough to ensure Eleven Wonders enjoy their 2nd win of the season. Captain Mohammed Alhassan got the consolation goal for the academy boys and WAFA now drop to the relegation zone.

Goals from Alhaji Mustapha and Dennis Nkrumah completed an instructive comeback for Ebusua Dwarfs after going down to a Benjamin Eshun strike for Liberty Professionals in the first half. Liberty are 15th on the league log after suffering their 3rd defeat of the season

Brekum Chelsea moved out of the relegation zone with a slim 1-0 win over Bechem United thanks to a second half strike from Stephen Amankona.

George Dwubeng broke the hearts of  Kotoko faithfuls at the Dawu Park with a wonderful strike in added time to ihand Kotoko their  3rd consecutive away defeat .The win over Kumasi Asante Kotoko is Dreams Fc’s third of the season

It was an exciting match day and I was most impressed with Karela’s victory at the Malik Jabir Park. It is very refreshing that the newly promoted sides are doing very well. I think that Kotoko’s scoring problem from last season is at play and for Hearts it looks like Wellington is not inspiring enough confidence. It is also looking like Medeama would want make a case for the ultimate and it will be very interesting how that pans out.
