The MP for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has cautioned Ghanaians to fasten their belts ahead of a serious hardship as the west African country faces economic meltdown.
Speaking to Prince Minkah on Dwaboase on TV XYZ, the former minister explained that the managers of the country did not heed to experts’ advice.
His comment comes after a recent currency performance ranking by Bloomberg classified the Cedi as the worst-performing currency across the globe.
Bloomberg tracked the performance of 150 currencies in the world and the Cedi placed last in terms of performance since the beginning of the year.
In less than 8 months, the Cedi has come under intense exchange rate pressure due to its continuous depreciation to some major international currencies such as the Dollar, Pound and Euro while inflation keep swelling in the country.
Blaming Vice president Mahamadu Bawumia, Mr Akandoh indicated that the hardship triggered by fuel hikes will get intense.
