V/R: Global Village Afrika supports youth groups in 3 communities

Global Village Afrika (GVA), a youth and community development NGO, in Akatsi in the Volta Region has donated items to youth groups in the Keta Municipality in the Volta region.

The groups that benefitted from the donation were from Havedzi, Kedzi and Vodza.

The donation was in connection with the annual Norvikporgbeza, a week-long homecoming celebration by the people of Havedzi, which coincided with aftermath of the Easter festivities in the area

This year’s celebrations involved among others, a soccer gala between Havedzi Mighty Warriors BSC, Kedzi Miracle BSC and Vodza Iron Breakers BSC.

The youth also engaged in a 4-team solo canoe racing on the Havedzi lagoon to climax the celebrations which were all sponsored by Global Village Afrika with cash donations to all participating beach soccer teams and individuals who participated in the canoe racing.

Donating the cash prizes to the participants, Mr. Benedictus Dumashie, the Public Relations Officer of the NGO thanked all participants for availing themselves for the colourful event which also served as a relief after a long break of inactivity due to Covid-19.

Additionally, Mr. Torney Eglu, the Country Director of GVA also promised more support for the members of the communities in the coming years and also tasked the youth to keep up the good work of participating in community development by maintaining the benches provided by GVA for patrons of the beach.
