Wa Killings: GH¢100,000 bounty on ‘suspects’ – Another body discovered

The Police Administration has beefed up its investigations to arrest persons behind what is generally believed to be serial killings.

The Service has offered to pay a whopping GHC100,000.00 reward to anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of suspects.

The Police has also deployed 300 additional personnel to the Wa Municipality and its environs as well as motor bikes to enhance operations following the difficult terrain and bad roads in some areas.

The development follows recent protests after the killing of a night watchman whose body was later discovered buried with the victims eyes, tongue removed and placed in a polythene bad found in the shallow grave.

At least one suspect, is in Police custody. Intelligence officials say its too early to conclude but they believe he is behind the latest killing.

Since February this year, 10 people have been hacked to death by unknown assailants and seven of them are said to be security or night watchmen.

Meanwhile opinion leaders in the Wa township suspect many more people may have been killed on the blind side of security officials.

Youth Leader, Suphan Iddrisu who has been speaking to journalists after they led Policemen on a search for secretely buried bodies said they found some other body parts which they suspect could be the body parts of another person.

“The body parts that we found, we asked the police to check whether those parts were intact or otherwise but our checks prove that those human parts that we saw were intact in the person that we saw yesterday so we are thinking that that was another person that has been buried there or taken away…he narrated.

The Police has on Tuesday, 20th September, 2022 discovered another dead body. The remains were found along a highway near the Wa Senior High School.

A statement issued by the Upper West regional police command indicates that the body, which is yet to be identified, “was uncovered by the special purpose intelligence and investigation team as part of their surveillance during the night of 19th September 2022”.

The body has since been deposited at the Upper West regional hospital morgue.

A Pathologist from the Police Hospital in Accra is leading a team of experts to conduct an autopsy.
