XYZ Broadcasting Limited, owners of TV and Radio XYZ, Power FM, and XYZ Digital, has donated to the family of Uriel Nii Quaye to undergo spine surgery.
Uriel fell while playing with his peers. But what seemed like a mere back pain became a nightmare for his parents when doctors diagnosed him with a spinal fracture.
“He cannot sit straight hence he dropped out of school; he finds it difficult to squat and defecate,” his worried mother told XYZ while looking for help.
Doctors said they needed GHS 15,000 for surgery or baby Uriel risked being paralysed forever in the next 5 months.
When the family of baby Uriel contacted XYZ Broadcasting for support, the company took up the matter and solicited funds from the listeners of Power FM and Viewers of TV XYZ.
Two weeks later, the company secured GHS 15,000 to help Uriel undergo the surgery.
Donating the cash to the family on Wednesday, Group Head of News and Talk, Eric Ahianyo who led the team said the XYZ brand was excited to be part of the life story of the 7-year old boy.
He also promised the family of the company’s support during and after the surgery.
Uriel was happy he will soon be treated and be able to walk and join his colleagues back at school.
