I always pray for the spirit of discernment to ensure my decisions as President won’t hurt Ghanaians – Mahama

The NDC flagbearer. John Mahama has disclosed that he always pray  for the spirit of discernment in order to make the right decisions to ensure it benefits the larger interst of Ghanaians.

The former President says that high office is so powerful that, you can easily be swayed to take actions that may bring untold hardship to the masses.

” It’s even more important when you are a leader or President because you make decisions and choices on behalf of the people every day’ he explained

Mr Mahama who was speaking at a meeting with Muslim and Christian leaders at Ho, as part of his campaign tour of the Volta region, said his outmost priority is to make decisions that will improve the lives of people and not orders like what led to the banking sector clean up which rendered over 10,000 into unemployed.

“The first thing I always pray for, is the spirit of discernment. Life is about choices and choices have consequences. If God doesn’t give you that spirit of discernment, you’ll make wrong choices and the people will suffer” he said

John Mahama added “whoever assumes that high office as President , occupies a huge latitude of discretion to take decisions on behalf of 30 million people and some of those decisions can be disastrous” adding that ‘I would not have closed those ten (10) banks and throw Ten Thousand (10,000) of my citizens out of work” he intimated.

Prayers were said for him for his safety, wisdom to govern again and for the nation.

The Bank of Ghana (BOG) in August, 2019, revoked the licenses of 23 savings and loans companies.

This was after the BOG in 2018 ordered a purchase and assumption agreement that saw GCB Bank subsumed UT and Capital Banks. Five other banks were closed down completely in their stead, forming Consolidated Bank Ghana.
