The Oyoko clan of Worawora in the Oti Region is calling on the vice of moral society as a matter of urgency throw in their support in finding lasting peace to the Chieftaincy crisis in the area.
According to them,in the last ten years, since the last legitimate Paramount chief of the Worawora Traditional Area joined his ancestors, some disturbing chieftaincy incidents have taken place. This they said has reached a boiling point, threatening the very fabric of our traditional heritage by bringing violence to the hitherto Worawora peaceful area.
The root cause of this crisis is the illegitimate occupation of the Royal throne which is and must be the strict preserve of the Royal Clan or family, traced to the matrilineal line.
Secretary of The Royal Oyoko Clan (FAMILY) Worawora Traditional Area, Obaasina Nana Ama Anowaa Nyarko in the Oti Region at a news conference called on the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II and the President to come to their aid and find an amicable solution to the issues which has potential of escalating.
“We are, by the petitions and the great oath, appealing to the Otumfour Nana Osei Tutu Ababio to step into this matter to ensure that the illegitimate claimants masquerading as royals and purporting to be chiefs are stopped forthwith in order not to drag the rich culture, tradition and customs of Asanteman in the mud” she said.
