The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has partnered with Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, to deliver a two-day digital skills training workshop for officials from the Ministry and its thirteen implementing agencies.
Held from July 14 to 15 in Accra, the workshop is part of a broader effort to equip government personnel with the digital tools and knowledge needed to promote Ghana’s tourism, cultural heritage, and creative sectors in an increasingly online-driven global environment.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Vitus O. Langmagne, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry, described the collaboration as “timely and strategic,” highlighting its relevance to the government’s agenda of aligning tourism and cultural promotion with digital transformation.
Participants are receiving practical training on how to leverage Meta’s suite of platforms to enhance tourism marketing, cultural storytelling, and the growth of creative enterprises.
Ms. Mabel Cudjoe, Director of Research, Statistics, and Information Management at the Ministry, who is leading the training initiative, explained that the program includes modules on content creation, audience engagement, campaign analytics, and customer interaction via WhatsApp Business and API tools.
“Participants will also be introduced to the Meta Support Pro and Self-Guide Portal, ensuring they have continued access to technical and operational support,” she said.
The workshop is being facilitated by Meta’s Public Policy team, with experts including Sade Dada, Head of Public Policy for Anglophone West Africa; Judith Mongala, Ahmad Shehada, and Burak Karagol, Partner Managers for Government and Social Impact; and Victoria Oloni, Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa.
A special address will be delivered by Kojo Boakye, Meta’s Vice President for Public Policy in Africa, the Middle East, and Türkiye.
The Ministry believes the collaboration with Meta marks a significant step in strengthening the digital competencies of public sector actors in tourism and creative arts, ultimately enhancing Ghana’s global visibility and competitiveness in the digital age.
