Academic woman foundation launches maiden “She Build conference” to champion women’s empowerment

The Academic Woman Foundation has inaugurated its flagship empowerment initiative, the She Build Conference, with a call to close Ghana’s persistent gender gap and strengthen the capacity of women across sectors.

The maiden conference, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, brought together leading voices in academia, law, entrepreneurship, engineering, and the media.

Participants engaged in dialogue, collaboration, and the sharing of practical strategies to advance gender equality under the theme:

“Where women are, where are we going, and what we need to do.”

In her keynote address, Dr. Anatu Mahama, CEO and Founder of the Academic Woman Foundation, explained that the She Build Conference was designed to confront barriers women continue to face in the workplace while promoting well-being, leadership, and empowerment.

“This initiative is not only about encouraging women to enter or remain in their professions but also about equipping them to rise into leadership positions and drive change,” Dr. Mahama said.

Organisers described the successful maiden edition as the start of a transformative movement aimed at fostering collective empowerment and ensuring that women’s voices and contributions remain central to Ghana’s national development agenda.
