Africa Sets the Stage: IPC Presidential Candidates to Face AfPC in Virtual Dialogue

The African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) has announced a historic virtual engagement with the two confirmed candidates for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) presidency, giving Africa’s para-sport leaders a rare opportunity to directly shape the future of the global Paralympic Movement.

The dialogue will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 14:00 GMT, and will feature presentations from both candidates, Mr. Bae Dong Hyun at 10:00 a.m. (Accra time) and current IPC President Andrew George Parsons at 12:00 p.m. (Accra time).

Each candidate will outline their vision and respond to questions from African National Paralympic Committees (NPCs).

The structured session is expected to run for three hours, ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and meaningful exchange.

AfPC President Samson Deen described the event as a defining moment for the continent:

“This is Africa’s moment to listen, engage, and assert our vision for the future of para-sport. I urge every African NPC to be present and contribute to these critical conversations with the IPC presidential candidates.”

The AfPC is calling on all NPC Presidents, Secretaries-General, and representatives across the continent to participate actively.

Their collective engagement, it says, will demonstrate Africa’s unity, amplify its influence, and reinforce the continent’s determination to advance inclusion, equity, and growth in global para-sport.
