Angry Sapeiman youth clash with police over footbridge protest

A peaceful protest by youth in Sapeiman and nearby communities turned chaotic on Monday following clashes with police over a roadblock.

The demonstrators had taken to the streets to demand the construction of footbridges at key bus stops in the area, citing the increasing number of pedestrian accidents, including incidents involving students.

According to the Assembly Member for Sapeiman, Elorm Avemegah, the community has written several letters to the Ga West Municipal Assembly and the contractor since 2024, but their appeals have not yet been addressed.

Some residents are now calling on the government to urgently intervene and ensure the construction of the long-awaited footbridges.
