Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson has stressed the urgent need for comprehensive economic reforms to position Ghana as an upper middle-income country before 2038.
Speaking at the National Economic Dialogue at the Accra International Conference Centre, Dr. Forson cautioned that without bold and strategic measures, Ghana may not achieve this status until long after 2025.
“Without comprehensive reforms, Ghana will only attain upper middle-income status beyond 2025, and we cannot afford to wait until 2050,” he stated.
He emphasized that well-structured and ambitious reforms are essential for driving economic progress, reaffirming the government’s commitment to resetting and strengthening the economy for sustainable growth and development.
“We have no choice but to implement decisive measures to reset our economy. With the right policies and ambitious reforms, Ghana can achieve upper middle-income status before 2038,” Dr. Forson added.
The National Economic Dialogue brings together policymakers, economists, business leaders, and civil society organizations to discuss key economic strategies. The discussions aim to shape policies that will ensure long-term stability and growth.
