The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has congratulated the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on his appointment as Chairman of the African Geo-Political Group at the ongoing Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
Delivering his remarks on the floor of Parliament, Mr. Ayariga described the appointment as a significant milestone for Ghana’s legislature, reflecting the Speaker’s distinguished leadership and Ghana’s active role in parliamentary diplomacy.
He noted that, over the past four years, Ghana’s Parliament has been recognised as the best in open parliamentary engagement across Africa, a testament to its commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
Mr. Ayariga added that Speaker Bagbin’s new role further strengthens Ghana’s reputation in global governance and inter-parliamentary collaboration.
