December 2025 diaspora dinner reinforces Ghana’s cultural and tourism diplomacy

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Huadjeto, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening ties with the global diaspora, describing the country as both a destination and a welcoming home.

She made the remarks at a special diaspora dinner held in December 2025 at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, as part of activities marking the December in GH celebrations.

According to Maame Efua Huadjeto, the event represented more than a formal gathering; it was a moment of homecoming that celebrated shared identity, purpose, and the enduring bond between Ghana and its people across the globe.

She noted that December in GH 2025 has become a powerful platform for reconnecting the diaspora to Ghana’s culture, heritage, people, and investment opportunities, while acknowledging the significant contributions of the diaspora to national development, particularly in tourism, creative arts, business, investment, and cultural exchange.

The GTA Chief Executive further emphasised that Ghana’s vision is to position the country not only as a preferred tourism destination, but also as a place of belonging for the diaspora, welcoming, dynamic, and full of promise.

The event was attended by the Honourable Chief of Staff, Ministers of State, and other distinguished guests, including the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Lawyer Alex Segbefia, whose support for Ghana’s cultural diplomacy and global engagement initiatives was acknowledged.

Participants at the dinner described the gathering as an opportunity to deepen collaboration, foster meaningful partnerships, and renew their commitment to telling Ghana’s story on the global stage.

The diaspora dinner formed part of broader efforts under the December in GH initiative to promote Ghana as a leading destination for heritage tourism, creativity, and international cultural exchange.
