The Chief Executive Officer of Akaditi and Founder of Agile in Africa, Nana Bambara-Abban, has called on governments across Africa to adopt agility concepts to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth across sectors.
According to him, embracing agility requires a holistic transformation of mindsets, particularly among young people, to foster creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills essential for Africa’s development.
Speaking at the Agile in Africa Conference in Accra on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Nana Bambara-Abban stressed the need to integrate agility principles into the educational curriculum from the basic to tertiary levels.
“We want to see more Ghanaian children, from primary to secondary and all the way to university, develop an agile growth mindset,” he said. “By catching them young, we can nurture innovators who can build businesses, create apps, and develop solutions to everyday problems by working collaboratively.”
The two-day conference brought together representatives from corporate Ghana, telecommunication companies, and key public institutions, including the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, which has adopted Agile in Africa concepts to enhance traffic management.
Organisers noted that the vision of Agile in Africa extends beyond conferences, aiming to institutionalize agility as a model for efficiency, adaptability, and cost reduction in both public and private sectors.
Nana Bambara-Abban revealed that his team has developed a policy paper urging African governments to adopt Agile practices, citing countries such as South Africa and Rwanda as examples of early adopters.
“Governments like Britain and others in America have used Agile to improve public services, from the judiciary and prisons to procurement and pensions,” he explained. “These practices make systems leaner, reduce costs, and increase the value of outcomes.”
He further urged African leaders to redefine their long-term national visions through agile approaches that emphasize speed, flexibility, and measurable impact.
“If Ghana has a 20- or 30-year vision, we can deliver that in five years using an agile approach,” he emphasized. “We just need to change the way we think and work.”
