The Member of Parliament for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency, Hon. Kofi Arkoe Nokoe, together with the Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson, has organised the maiden edition of the Teachers Awards Ceremony in Axim.
The event, facilitated and fully sponsored by the MP and the MCE, aimed to appreciate and motivate both active and retired teaching staff within the municipality.
As part of the awards, four motorbikes were presented to teachers serving in remote areas of the constituency, in addition to 13 double-decker fridges, six tabletop fridges, and five deep freezers.
Six retired teachers were also honoured with citations and GH₵2,000 each.
The Overall Best Teacher, Mr. Stephen Mensah of Kwame Nkrumah Senior High School, received GH₵10,000 and other items.
Mr. Francis Anyan Mensah emerged as first runner-up, receiving GH₵7,500, while Ms. Monica Turkson placed second runner-up with a prize of GH₵5,000.
Speaking at a colourful durbar of chiefs, clergy, teachers, students, and assembly members held at the Axim Victoria Park on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, Hon. Kofi Arkoe Nokoe said the initiative was designed to empower teachers who have dedicated their lives to serving the municipality.

He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening educational development in the constituency, stressing that education remains the backbone of growth and prosperity.
“My office, through our partnership with the MCE, will ensure that our area receives the necessary amenities that will enhance our development,” he said.
Hon. Arkoe Nokoe also praised the cordial working relationship between the MCE and other stakeholders in advancing the area’s development agenda.
The Omanhene of the Lower Axim Traditional Area, HRM Awulae Attibrukusu III, commended the MP and the MCE for their dedication to improving the municipality.
He encouraged teachers to uphold professionalism and integrity in their service.
“We, the traditional leaders, will continue to support initiatives that improve the working conditions of our workers, especially teachers,” he assured.
For his part, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson expressed gratitude to all who supported the event and pledged his continued commitment to enhancing education and development in the area. He reiterated his office’s readiness to partner with the MP to lobby for more initiatives to support the municipality’s progress.
The ceremony also recognised teachers across several categories, including preschool, primary, JHS, SHS, technical and vocational, languages, non-teaching staff, STEM, education administration, as well as special dedication awards from the MP’s office.
