Foreign Minister urges Ghanaians to avoid ‘goro boys’ in passport application process

Accra – Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has urged Ghanaians to use only official and lawful channels when applying for passports, cautioning against the use of intermediaries, commonly referred to as “goro boys.”

Addressing the media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, 28 April 2025, Mr. Ablakwa emphasised that passport services do not require a middleman and that applicants should deal directly with Ministry staff.

“You do not need a goro boy to acquire a Ghanaian passport,” he said. “Our Ministry is committed to serving you with honesty and diligence. We want every applicant to have a pleasant and convenient experience.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and improving public service delivery in the passport acquisition process.
