His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse and Overlord of the Ga State, has called on residents of Accra to uphold the city’s dignity through a collective commitment to cleanliness.
The Ga Mantse made the call during the maiden National Sanitation Day cleanup exercise held in Accra, which saw the active participation of government officials, traditional authorities, and citizens.
According to him, it is his duty to ensure that Accra remains clean, noting that cleanliness brings prosperity and good health to the people.
He commended the collaboration between the Ministry of Local Government, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), and traditional leadership, describing it as a necessary partnership to sustain environmental discipline and civic responsibility.
The Ga Mantse urged residents to take ownership of their surroundings and make cleanliness a daily habit rather than a one-day exercise.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, assured traders at Agbogbloshie of plans to construct a modernized market under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, as part of efforts to enhance sanitation and improve trading conditions in the capital.
