The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will embark on a three-day State Visit to Ghana from Sunday, November 2 to Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
The official programme begins on Monday, with President Steinmeier inspecting a full military Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of The Presidency.
He will then hold closed-door talks with his host, President John Dramani Mahama, before joining their respective delegations for bilateral discussions in the Credentials Room.
A statement issued on Friday, October 31, 2025, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, indicated that the discussions will focus on strengthening Ghana–Germany relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation.
The statement added that a State Luncheon will be held in honour of President Steinmeier and his delegation at the Presidential Banquet Hall later in the afternoon.
“Later in the day, the German President will be conducted on a guided tour of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He will also engage young Ghanaian IT specialists before attending a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence,” Mr. Kwakye stated.
President Steinmeier, who is scheduled to depart Ghana on Tuesday evening, will travel to Kumasi on the final day of his visit. While there, he will perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute, and interact with the Vice-Chancellor, staff, and alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He will also visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research before paying a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
