GH¢1m cash found hidden in fertilizer bags, intercepted by police

The Volta Regional Police Command intercepted a Ford Transit bus at a snap checkpoint in Juapong, uncovering GH¢1,021,700 in one cedi notes and coins concealed within 68 fertilizer bags on June 3, 2025.

The vehicle was traveling from Ho to Kumasi when it was stopped around 4:45 p.m. The driver, identified as Edward Ansah, claimed he had been contracted by an unnamed individual in Kumasi to transport the cash.

He is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
The concealment of such a substantial amount of physical cash raises concerns about potential illicit financial activities.

Authorities are actively investigating the source and intended use of the funds, as well as any possible links to money laundering or other financial crimes.
