The Ministry of Health and the German Development Agency (GIZ) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation towards positioning Ghana as a leading pharmaceutical hub in West Africa.
A delegation from GIZ paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Health to discuss strategies for advancing President John Mahama’s vision of transforming Ghana into a pharmaceutical powerhouse.
Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, emphasized that the collaboration is part of a broader Ghana–Germany partnership to strengthen key sectors of the economy.
He noted that the engagement aims to empower the private sector to boost local vaccine production while enabling Ghana to gain international recognition and leverage support in accessing global funding opportunities.
Hon. Akandoh further expressed optimism that the engagement with GIZ would extend beyond the current initiatives, describing it as the beginning of a long-term partnership.
He assured the public that the Ministry remains committed to working closely with international partners to build a resilient health sector and called on stakeholders to support ongoing efforts to transform Ghana’s pharmaceutical industry.
