The government is set to implement a comprehensive transformation agenda for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to enhance skills development and job creation, according to Dr. Clement Apaak, Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament.
Dr. Apaak emphasized that the initiative aims to modernize TVET institutions, improve infrastructure, upgrade curricula, and strengthen industry partnerships to equip students with relevant, hands-on skills for the job market.
“This transformation agenda is designed to reposition TVET as a key driver of Ghana’s industrialization and economic growth by ensuring our youth acquire the necessary competencies to thrive in an evolving job market,” he stated.
As part of the initiative, the government will invest in state-of-the-art training facilities, digital tools, and apprenticeship programs to bridge the gap between education and industry demands. Efforts will also be made to align TVET programs with international standards, making graduates more competitive locally and globally.
Dr. Apaak called on stakeholders, including the private sector and development partners, to collaborate in ensuring the success of the initiative. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making TVET a viable alternative to traditional academic education, empowering more youth with skills for self-employment and economic growth.
