President and Founder of the Lordina Foundation, Mrs Lordina Mahama says access to quality healthcare is a right and not a privilege for a few.
According to her, Ghana has come a long way and universal healthcare is long overdue.
The former First Lady whose foundation has over the years supported several health facilities across Ghana bemoaned the challenges facing the most vulnerable especially in rural Ghana and called for a concerted effort to bridge the gap.
She made the remarks after donating medical equipment to health centers in the Tamale North Constituency on Friday, November 1, 2024.
“By equipping our local clinics with these essential supplies, we are taking a meaningful step toward bridging this gap. We are working to make healthcare not a privilege for a few, but a right for everyone” she opined.
Madam Lordina Mahama added “Our rural communities face unique challenges—the distance they have to travel to receive medical care, the limited resources at these rural health care facilities, and sometimes lack of health care professional are all a challenge to their health and well-being”.
She said moral society must not sit on the fence and watch the health sector deteriorate.
“I encourage each of you to keep supporting healthcare initiatives, raise your voices, and work towards making healthcare accessible for all”.
She pledge the Foundation’s commitment to scale-up support to the less privileged in society to improve lives.
“As we move forward, let’s remember that this is only the beginning. Every donation, every act of kindness, creates waves of change—change that is essential to rebuilding our country”
