IGP and POMAB members engage community Leaders in Asawase and Tulaku to calm tensions and foster peace

As part of efforts to maintain peace and strengthen community relations, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) held separate engagements with community leaders in Asawase (Ashanti Region) and Tulaku (Greater Accra Region) on July 25 and 26, 2025.

At Asawase, the IGP and his delegation met with key stakeholders to assess the security situation and reinforce law enforcement operations.

Following the review, the IGP directed the immediate establishment of a Formed Police Unit (FPU) base in the area to enhance police presence and improve response times.

Additional strategic checkpoints have also been mounted at all entry and exit routes to boost security coverage.

The IGP took the opportunity to interact with deployed personnel, commending them for their dedication and service.

He emphasized the Police Administration’s commitment to their welfare and urged vigilance in enforcing directives issued by the Regional Security Council. “Let us make Asawase uncomfortable for criminals,” he charged.

In Tulaku, Greater Accra, POMAB representatives held a peace-building meeting with leaders of the Kusasi and Mamprusi communities, as well as executives of the Cattle Dealers Association.

The discussions focused on recent concerns and strengthening cooperation between the Police Service and the community.

The Accra Regional Commander, along with Divisional and District Commanders, is also conducting similar engagements with community leaders and youth groups to promote dialogue, protect lives, and ensure sustained peace and order.

The Police Administration reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with sister security agencies and all relevant stakeholders to enhance national security and foster peaceful coexistence.
