The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and surrounding communities in the North East Region following the burning of two houses and threats to torch more properties in the regional capital.
The Ghana Police Service said the security deployment is aimed at restoring calm, protecting lives and property, and strengthening law enforcement in the affected areas.
The move also seeks to ensure the effective enforcement of the curfew imposed on Nalerigu and its environs by government.
According to the Police, the reinforcement teams will work with the North East Regional Police Command to intensify security patrols, particularly on major highways, to guarantee the safety of commuters and residents.
The Police Command assured residents that investigations into the arson attacks are ongoing and that all persons involved will be arrested and brought to justice.
The statement was signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Robert Anabik Amain, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the North East Regional Police Command.
