The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has cautioned members of the public against engaging in bribery, warning that police officers will expose and shame anyone who attempts to compromise them.
Mr. Yohuno made the statement during a listening session for a special song composed by gospel musician Grace Ashley in honour of the Ghana Police Service.
According to the IGP, officers of the Service are now prioritising professionalism and career advancement over bribes, as promotions are increasingly earned through hard work, discipline, and dedication.
He noted that the current police administration has moved away from past practices where officers waited years for promotion, sometimes retiring or dying before being promoted.
He stressed that merit-based promotion has become a key focus of the Service.
Mr. Yohuno reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of its constitutional mandate.
