Make yourselves accessible to the grassroots – Tawiah Boateng to Mahama’s appointees

Former Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has urged the appointees in the newly created government to accord their peers who have not yet been assigned roles by President Mahama.

The NDC stalwart who was speaking to King Nicholas on Power 97.9 FM Thursday afternoon admonished the newly appointed Managing Directors and CEOs of various State Departments and Agencies not to avoid party grassroots when they need opportunities in the new government.

The former Chairman stressed that the appointees are occupying privileged positions because the grassroots toiled to win the NDC power in last December’s fierce polls.

“When the people look for you, make yourselves accessible when you have time,” Mr. Boateng said but quickly acknowledged that the task ahead of the appointees may be tough but hastened that they must find ways of meeting with “party grassroots who worked to bring us to power.”

He said that was the only way to ensure the party’s unity to retain power beyond 2028.

He emphasised the appointees’ impact of supporting party activities while getting in touch with the grassroots to enable them know the needs of the people they are serving.

“We know you are tasked to do a lot but please, I am urging that when the people call you, find a way to get in touch with them.”

“When they call you, answer them. The grassroots need jobs; they need opportunities and that’s the reason they contact you.”

He went on to narrate their struggles they encountered during the 2024 campaign and advised that the appointees “tell people something convincing when they get in touch.”

Mr Tawiah’s comment comes at a time some members of the NDC are agitating on various social media platforms, raising concerns that they worked hard for the party during the electioneering yet they have been neglected by the appointing authorities.

Some even accuse President Mahama’s appointees for employing persons from the opposition including Journalists who never contributed to the victory of the NDC in 2024.
