NACOC bolsters anti-drug fight with 307 new recruits

In a major boost to Ghana’s fight against illicit drugs, 307 newly trained personnel of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have graduated from the Naval Recruit Training School at Nutekpor in the Volta Region.

Delivering the keynote address at the passing-out ceremony, Interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak urged the graduates to remain steadfast in their mission and resist corruption in the execution of their duties.

“Your badge is not a license for impunity but a symbol of justice, compassion, and integrity,” the Minister said. “I implore you to uphold confidentiality, resist corruption, and diligently honour the oath enshrined in Section 35 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020.”

The Minister assured the graduates of the government’s commitment to supporting NACOC’s mandate through enhanced logistics and clear policy direction.

He also commended the training staff and instructors for their professionalism, discipline, and dedication to grooming the recruits.

The new officers have undergone rigorous training in intelligence gathering, drug pharmacology, profiling techniques, document fraud detection, and tactical security operations.

They are now equipped to play a critical role in tackling drug trafficking and abuse across the country.

This development marks a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s capacity to combat narcotics-related crime and safeguard public health and safety.
