A government delegation led by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Thursday visited the residence of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to commiserate with her family following the announcement of her passing.

The visit was undertaken on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently out of the country on an urgent assignment.

Speaking after the visit, the Vice President described the late Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings as “a remarkable woman whose life and legacy have left an indelible mark on our nation.”

She emphasized the need for unity and solemn reflection as the country mourns the loss of one of its most influential figures.

“It is important that we remain solemn, united, and respectful as we mourn her passing. I pray for God’s strength and comfort for the entire family during this difficult time,” she stated.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang further called on Ghanaians to honour the memory of the late former First Lady and ensure she is given a befitting farewell.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, a trailblazing advocate for women’s empowerment and founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, is remembered for her pivotal contributions to Ghana’s political and social development.
